Monitoring & Evaluation

Malaria Alert Centre, MAC, has a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Centres for Disease Control and Prevention to support sustainable national efforts to reduce malaria-related morbidity and mortality. The objectives are designed according to the strategic priorities of the National Malaria Control Program in Malawi. There are several activities currently that have been undertaken or underway under this program.

Surveys

We have conducted multiple surveys to monitor anemia and parasitemia across several districts.

Monitoring

We have been conducting an Entomological Monitoring of an Indoor Residual Spray Programme in Malawi from 2007 to date for 7 target districts. This activity aims at collecting entomological data to guide operations of the programme. Primary to this monitoring activity is provision of timely data that would guide choice of insecticides for use in the spraying program and secondary is assessing the impact of the program in reducing Malaria parasite transmission in an area.
